By inserting SIM cards of competitor networks into the LTS-F remote probes, quality and performance figures of competing networks can be measured as well. Operators may thus benchmark their network against their competitors. This information can be used by operators to improve network planning. LTS-F probes can be installed at any place in the network, so it is possible to use a site not directly located near an own base station, where the domestic network naturally transmits a stronger signal than the competitors. In the future, it will be even possible to include mobile probes that are taken around by trains, buses, taxis etc. to get larger samples of locations for which measurements can be acquired, averaging out local peculiarities.
Even with a domestic SIM card, LTS-F can report the signal strength of all cells within range of an LTS-F probe, even those of competitor networks.
On the other hand, service providers, resellers, VPN users, or customers that use services of multiple networks, such as automotive industries, may use LTS-F to monitor the quality and availability of their offered or used services within different networks. |
